Tri-3: Paintcor is ready to fly
The latest in Paintcor’s innovative products is Tri-3. This has been specially developed for Skyworx aviation for use on cloth covered lightweight aircraft. After World War II the development of modern manufactured materials changed the way aircraft are built drastically.
Old aircraft materials
Pre-world war aircraft were covered in cotton fabrics which have since been replaced by polyethylene terephthalate. Polyethylene terephthalate is a thermoplastic polymer resin that is most commonly used in fibres for clothing and thermoforming in manufacturing.
What is thermoforming?
Thermoforming is one of the most important steps in the process of manufacturing light aircraft. You can picture it as a complex process of heating and vacuum packing the aircraft. The material is placed over the aircraft while stretching the fabric over its shape piece by piece. The heavy-gauge material is then heated to crimp over the aircraft but retains its strength and flexibility.
Paintcor takes to the sky
Lightweight aircraft need paint that is consistently durable to take on high speeds at high altitude. Paintcor has developed Tri-3 Silver Aluminium for exactly that. The non-leafing coat is safe, non-toxic and non-flammable. The paint does not require diluting and can be applied directly to the aircraft as is. It is applied to the thermoform material with at first a sponge brush followed by spray application, Tri-3 is based on an Emulsion so all brushes and equipment must simply be cleaned with water after use.
Tri-3 is based on a modified pure acrylic that seals and protects new fabric covered aircraft from the elements. It is perfectly adapted to serve this purpose because it has 200% flexibility, is waterproof and has excellent UV protection seeing as aircraft have no way of escaping the sun’s rays.
The structure of the paint will not change or become damaged when subjected to temperatures below freezing or above 40degrees C. All this makes TRI-3 the only choice when it comes to recovering your precious Aircraft. Get yours from Skyworx aviation (Mr Kevin Hopper).
